Terese’s Story

Terese was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when she was 7 years old. Despite all the doctor visits and sick days she worked hard to lead a normal, happy, healthy life. And as many Crohn’s patience due, she had her colon removed at the age of 18 over winter break after her first semester at NIU and picked up the next semester without missing a beat.

Camp Oasis

Camp Oasis is a co-ed residential camp program, located in Waupaca, WI, whose purpose is to enrich the lives of children with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis by providing a safe and supportive community since all of the campers (and most of the adults) have the disease. Camp Oasis is an environment where campers realize they are not alone in their struggles and let their true selves shine.
